New Year's Day

When New Year's Day comes
what exactly does it mean?
Actually, it can mean several
things, but usually it is a time
to think of new beginnings.

A time to reflect upon our lives
and see if there is way to make
them better. It is also a time for
us to think about making
amends for past mistakes.

You see, we humans are not
"forever," at least not in the
physical sense, as we too often
forget the vibrancy and joy of
being young and take it out on
our loved ones.

Sadly, far too many times when
we become angry at the ones
we love we forget to say, "I'm
sorry." Love, then becomes only
an empty word without any true
meaning, a word we only use for
convenience in order for us to
get our own way.

Then when New Year's Eve
comes, we jump up and down
like grasshoppers celebrating
what we think is our happiness
without realizing that each time
we shout, "Happy New Year's,"
we are actually one more year
closer to our own demise.

That is why it's important for us
to treat our loved ones and other
people with respect, kindness and
love, and to give thanks for another
year given to us by the very source
of all love, a little baby born on -
Christmas Day in a Manger.

La Bamba / Ritchie Valens

The Honor of La Raza

Our ancestors endured hardship
and poverty. Men and women
of courage immigrated to the
United States.

Holding dreams close to their
heart ,they raised their children
and through hard work they
held their heads high.

Many of their children, went
to wars and came back heroes,
even though their valor was
not recognized as it should
have been.

Struggling with racism and
bigotry they still pressed on
knowing that justice and
honor were on their side.

They did not ever lose faith
even though there tired bodies
ached because they knew their
children depended upon them.

Now, respect and honor crown
their hearts with the strength of
lions which they have passed on
to the youth.

Greatness and power are now
within the reach of all young
Chicano's, but they must have
the courage to live out their lives
with honor and not fall victims
to the “fake honor of dishonor
and mediocrity.”

The Puppet Master and the Destruction of La Raza

Each time a brown skinned baby is born the

hate in his evil eyes only grew stronger.

"I need to have these people destroyed."

"We are working on it your majesty, but they

seem to be waking up."

"That must never happen, as my plans for

them will not work if they awaken."  "What do

you want us to do, master?" "I am the Puppet

Master, creator of all lies and destruction. I shall

fill their minds with the poison of ignorance and

make them forget the honor of the Mexican

American people.

Then I will make them hate each other through

promoting gangs and false machismo. Jealousy

and envy will help me fill their hearts with greed

and blind their eyes to the truth, until La Raza is

finally destroyed."

"But, will it work master?" "Of course, even now

they turn on each other believing my beautiful lies.

I trick their minds so easily, by making them believe

that good is evil, and evil is good and they don't

even doubt me when I cause them to disobey

their parents."

"Your plans always work master, but what if they

find out the truth?" "No, they must never find out

that the sacred keys to victory in life are learning

and knowledge!

I will give them drugs instead, alcohol, sex,

and plenty of pleasure, until they fall into my

traps of poison flowers. I will also send them

alluring eye candy so that they will form bad

romantic relationships that will never work,

until they forget all about the power within

learning and knowledge.

I then will also make their hearts hard and

selfish until they will lose all respect and love

for each other, so that even the tears that they

shed at funerals will be fake. How ironic that

the senseless violence I love so much will

ruin so many of their young lives.

I will also make their hearts forget goodness,

love, respect and honor, just like all the other

cultures throughout the world that I have

destroyed, then I will reign supreme in the

world.

And I will not stop until their lives are ruined

and destroyed because they willingly choose

ignorance and foolishness over education and

wisdom. They, will never know that wealth,

success, power and happiness, can be theirs

through learning and knowledge.

What's more, If the young people of La Raza

were to ever open their eyes they would

conquer life itself just as they did in ages past.

That is why, we must stop them, before they

lift up the flaming sword of learning and grasp

the golden crown of knowledge which is their

heritage and reach for the very stars!"

Learning and Knowledge are Critical to Success.
