A Message for Young Mexican Americans

The careless driver breaks all the rules
until he or she kills someone and then
not only have they ruined someone else's
life but their own as well.

Same with the one who texts while driving,
the alcoholic, the drug addict, the murderer,
etc. There is one trait that these people all
share.

It is called "self-imposed ignorance." You
see, knowledge, information, and learning
are all around them, yet they choose to
ignore the very best things life has to offer.

Sadly, they also set themselves up in their
minds as being the most important people
on earth! Yet, when they get themselves in
trouble, all of a sudden they are seen begging
and crying out for help.

Young people, avoid these types of people if
you want to achieve success and happiness in
life. Look up to and follow people who are
successful, and you will find success.

Find role models that you wish to be like and
then, make yourself as successful as them!
Why? Because success and happiness depend
entirely upon what you choose to do with your
life!

Flowers of the Desert

Like the flowers which bloom upon the desert floor,
they passed this way. Yearning to choose their destiny
while walking under the rays of a burning sun.

The heat, sears the soul of the faint hearted, but the
little flowers hold their own. While beating hearts call
out to one another in hope their dreams will come true.

The desert flowers, cry when one of their own has died,
alone, and unknown, parched lips praying up to an endless
sky, while others keep on moving, even in the dark of night.

Somewhere a Madrecita cries, “Where are you Mijo, are you
still alive?” “Where is Mija, God forbid the desert has taken
her for its bride!” All that is heard is the endless silence of
the deserts reply.

Once more the tears of a Madrecita fall upon the barren
earth, as small wooden crosses mark the spots where once
stood smiling faces and beating hearts.

Flowers of the Desert, symbolize the souls and memories
of the loved ones which still live within a - Madrecitas heart.

Written in remembrance of all the immigrants who have died
trying to reach the American dream.
